Try some of these family-friendly and FUN winter activities in Breckenridge to make the most of your getaway!
Skiing/ Snowshoeing
Wander into the ice-capped meadows, valleys, and groomed trails for a fantastic mountain adventure perfect for the whole family. Breckenridge offers more than 50 kilometers (30 miles) of ideal cross-country skiing and snowshoeing paths between the town’s two Nordic Centers.
In addition, one of the top ski resorts in the state is frequently regarded as Breckenridge Ski Resort. With access to the five peaks, more than 2,900 skiable acres, 187 routes, four terrain parks, and the tallest chairlift on the continent, the Breckenridge Ski Resort is definitely in a fabulous location.
Excited but haven’t tried skiing and snowshoeing yet? No problem! You may get started using available equipment rentals, classes, snowcat tours, snack bars, and skilled staff. Also, enjoy the mountain views, and don’t forget to stop at the Hallelujah Hut so you can warm up by the fireplace.

Tubing and Sledding
Bring your family for a different thrill ride that will have them giggling as they fly down a hill on a sled or inner tube. A family favorite for the holiday season is tubing and sledding. Visit the Frisco Adventure Park for year-round activities and amenities like snow tubing, a beginner ski-and-ride hill, hiking, biking, skateboarding, and disc golf. Copper Mountain, a well-equipped recreational area with four designated tubing lanes, is another famous tubing hill that you’ll surely enjoy.
On the other hand, you can take advantage of the free-of-charge sledding hill at Carter Park. It is one of the few places to go sledding in Breckenridge. Just bring your own sled, mittens, and hot cocoa to fully enjoy your sledding experience. It’s also perfect for pet lovers, for there is a gated park if your furry friends need to burn off some energy.

Sleigh Rides
Another great activity for families, groups, and couples is sleigh rides. Dash across the snow while relaxing in a sleigh and admiring the beautiful scenery of Breckenridge. Scenic cocoa rides and dinner sleigh rides are available at Two Below Zero. Choose a scenic hot cocoa sleigh ride if you want a fun-filled group experience. You can also book a “one-horse open sleigh” ride for a more private (or romantic) mountain experience.
Meanwhile, a 30 to 40-minute scenic sleigh ride with lovely views of the quaint town is included at Breckenridge Stables. If you are up to some scenic sleigh rides and dinner theater experience, try Golden Horseshoe Sleigh Rides.
Winter Hike
Are you feeling adventurous? Save some time to explore some of the most incredible trails in the area! The best way to appreciate Breckenridge’s natural splendor is by hiking. It’s an awesome activity for both getting some exercise and seeing the magnificent scenery for the entire family during the winter season.
The town has paved paths, and the surrounding area has well-kept trails. Families can enjoy incredible mountain views on the 0.6-mile Iowa Hill Mine Trail. Alternatively, you can hike 1.5 miles around a lake on the Lower Sawmill and Snowflake Trail Loop.

Ice Skating Rink
Whether you’re into figure skating or just want to try something different, ice skating is a fun activity for trying hockey, curling, or even figure skating. You don’t have to be a professional skater to enjoy yourself. There’s something for everyone at the ice rink and don’t forget to dress warmly!
